I would like this game more if I could actually understand what all the text was saying.

Newgrounds is an English-speaking site, NOT a Japanese speaking one!

Seems to be a faithful port, but one thing that is really lacking is the poor performance. I can play the PC version just fine, but this port lags terribly. A retro game like this shouldn't lag--it's not like you're trying to use advanced 3D or anything.

If the game had been written more efficiently, you would have gotten a full five stars.

zhang4xiu responds:

I can fix the performance issues, but would like to know your system specs. Also if you're using Chrome (with builtin Flash Player), try a different browser please.

The only thing that makes the game difficult is the lack of control. This is what people call "Fake Difficulty" and unless your game is meant to be sadistic like I Wanna Be The Guy, having all of your difficulty be fake is a terrible design choice.

This game would be much more pleasant if I could drag and drop instead of clumsily bump things around.

A cute little platformer with an interesting story (if somewhat creepy), making it unique amongst the loads of other platformers uploaded to Newgrounds.

When the zombie apocalypse inevitably occurs and all living humans are gone, the zombies shall rebuild civilization in their own image. At least, until they all decompose. Unless they don't.

A bit of advice to everyone: A no-gun Xtreme Mode run is completely possible. I just did it. It is very hard and you WILL die a lot, but it's possible. Utilize crowd control. It will make things a lot simpler.

This is a very depressing game, especially if you take the time to carefully read all the notes and see all of the three endings.

There's hardly any challenge at all, but there doesn't have to be. The player's objective is to find the truth, which this game handles very well. There might not be any terrifying monsters out to get you, but plenty of horror is still there, waiting for you to find it.

Given its goal and the execution, this game is a masterpiece.

This is very good for a first serious game. The multiple endings and side quests to the main plot make this game worth playing several times over.

I am a bit puzzled, however. You say that one of the endings is gotten by drinking from the Fountain of Youth. However, I happened to get a game over by doing exactly that. Is there some obscure thing that I should have done but failed to do? Help a brotha out here.

pepperpunk responds:

Cheers!

As for the fountain, pay close attention to all of the adventure text... if you're unsure about drinking from it, leave it alone and head back to the pirate king for some advice, the fountain will still be there when you go back. :)

How in the world did this pass judgment? Everything is terribly drawn. Both two player modes seem to go on forever. 1P race is only one track against an opponent that miraculously gets a burst of speed on straight stretches. The avoid mode doesn't have a big dot--it has a big RECTANGLE, and avoiding it is only possible through extensive trial and error.

And, to put the icing on the cake made of crap, there is no Kirby to be found in this mockery of a game.

The games section on Newgrounds is for GAMES, not buggy, almost featureless, inexplicably CPU-hogging tech demos.

sonik1 responds:

Show me that you can make a better one.
And this is a game, technically.

Almost all of the text in this game is Chinese. On Newgrounds, we use English. Most people on Newgrounds will not be able to understand any Chinese words. If you're going to upload something, make it with English as its language. If you aren't fluent in English, find someone who is and let them translate for you.

Oh, and for some reason it's impossible to die, at least in the first level or two. You might want to fix that.

(Posting a Google translation, just in case)

A neat little platformer with a quirky sense of humor. And it's all packed in less than 700 KB, without any blatant distortion in the music that would happen if it was greatly compressed!

EdTheEidolon responds:

Yeah, I actually stream the music into the game to keep the load size down. This seemed like a pretty good solution at the time, but I honestly wasn't expecting so many people to pick it up so quickly (did I mention I have no idea what I am doing with this? :P). That file size might jump up a bit depending on whether or not people start having problems streaming the music. So far so good though!

I like to write music. On occasion, I also like to draw and do other forms of art, though I'm not necessarily very good at it. I also like to make games.
